How Do You Plan an Activation at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center?
Updated: 20 hours ago
The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas is a downtown convention venue with exhibit halls, ballrooms and meeting rooms. Its current official capacity differs from older promotional figures, and an expansion is underway. Exhibitors should plan the activation for the assigned hall and show rules rather than the size of the whole venue.

What current venue facts and expansion details should exhibitors know?
Checked October 25, 2026, the convention center’s official About Us page lists 753,965 square feet of programmable event space, including 529,250 square feet of exhibit space, two ballrooms and 60 meeting rooms. It identifies 304,250 square feet as traditional contiguous exhibit space and 225,000 as adaptable multi-use space. These categories describe the venue, not the area assigned to an individual exhibitor.
The same source says the expansion is targeted to debut in 2030. Do not present future capacity as currently available. Confirm the contracted hall, construction-related access and current floor plan directly with the organizer.
How do you plan for the booth actually allocated to you?
Start with the exhibitor manual: installation access, freight handling, electrical and internet ordering, display-height limits, aisle setbacks, sound and operating hours. Assign responsibility for each item in the proposal. An activation supplier’s equipment footprint does not include every queue, access or venue-service requirement.
Choose a guest action suited to the booth. An AI portrait needs capture, review and delivery; digital graffiti needs a drawing area and saved artwork; a video experience needs its full moving-equipment clearance. Place staff and waiting guests inside the approved exhibit boundary.
Which AI booth and GlamBOT specifications can help with layout planning?
The published AI service lists approximately 8 by 8 feet and one standard 110V outlet, with group participation up to five. Confirm selected effects and the complete layout. The owner-specified GlamBOT with Vogue booth uses a 12-by-10-foot equipment footprint and an 11-foot ceiling, with about two hours for setup and one for breakdown. These are different configurations, not interchangeable minimums for every booth.
Convention-center activation FAQs
Does booking a large venue mean our booth can use a large activation?
No. The contracted booth, show rules and approved layout determine what fits. Send those documents before equipment is confirmed.
Can the activation use the venue’s internet?
Check what connection is actually ordered, where it terminates and whether it meets the proposed workflow. Test delivery and agree a fallback; general venue connectivity is not a dedicated service commitment.
Can a branded keepsake collect leads?
Optional marketing capture must be scoped, explained and exported deliberately. Count delivered assets and qualified enquiries separately.
Do venue facts prove Interactive Dallas is an official partner?
No. This planning article describes venue facts and available activation formats. It does not assert an exclusive partnership or a completed activation in every hall.
Where can you verify facts and request a production plan?
Official KBHCCD venue facts and expansion information; Interactive Dallas AI specifications; owner-confirmed GlamBOT planning guide. Reviewed October 25, 2026.
Send your show, booth number, floor plan, schedule and output needs to dwalthers@interactivedallas.com or call 214.293.5044.
What if construction changes the expected access route?
Ask the show organizer for the current hall, loading, freight, and installation instructions for your contracted date. Reconfirm them before production and share the approved version with the activation supplier. A future expansion plan is not a current access commitment.
How do we prevent the guest line from extending into an aisle?
Include the queue, operator, participation position, delivery point, and guest exit inside the approved layout. Plan around peak demand and agree how staff will pause invitations when the waiting area is full.
What if a sample effect needs more preparation or clearance than our booth allows?
Review the exact equipment configuration and creative treatment before approving the package. Ask for a measured plan and a representative output; choose a different format when the whole operating workflow does not fit.
How do you approve a convention-center activation?
Request an exhibitor activation proposal with your show, hall, booth number, exhibitor manual, floor plan, operating hours, approved artwork, and desired output. Confirm venue services and responsibilities in the written scope.
