My BAD Experience With AOWLED: Excellent Image Quality, but Unreliable Performance and Inconvenient Support

We use AOWLED LED screens as part of our interactive LED wall. When the screens are working properly, they look amazing. The image quality is impressive, and the finished wall can create an excellent visual experience.

Unfortunately, getting the system to work reliably has required far more technical support, troubleshooting, and last-minute intervention than I believe a professional event product should require.

During each of the last two times I used the screens, I needed extensive remote assistance from AOWLED to make the system operational.

The first incident required approximately five hours of technical support. During the most recent incident, it took about three hours with an engineer was connected and able to configure the individual screens to function as one large display. He just kept uploading firmware. Then said (after 3 hours) OK these 3 screens are updated but now not compatible with my other 3 screens. Great! Now I have to have them update the other 3 screens for more hours of fun!

This creates a serious operational problem for an event company. To leave enough time for troubleshooting, I have to install the LED wall the day before an event and then wait until approximately 10:00 p.m. Central Time for support from China. Once an engineer is available, I may have to move cables, test different configurations, and wait through additional firmware updates before the wall works correctly.

Event equipment needs to perform when it arrives on site. Although technical support is available, repeatedly needing hours of remote engineering assistance is not the same as owning a dependable, event-ready system. The support schedule is also extremely inconvenient when installation and testing must take place during normal working hours in the United States.

Following the latest incident, I asked AOWLED about replacing the screens. Their response (from Adia Wong. adia.wong@aoweled.com) was that I should sell my current screens locally and purchase new ones. really this is how you support a customer that spent $20,000 with you?

That answer did not address my concerns about the reliability of the products I already purchased. It also placed the responsibility—and potential financial loss—on me to sell equipment that I no longer trust to perform consistently.

My assessment is straightforward: AOWLED screens can produce an excellent-looking image when everything is working, but my units have not been dependable enough for professional event use without extensive engineering support. Based on these repeated experiences and the proposed resolution, I cannot recommend AOWLED.

If I sell and replace these screens, the replacements will not be purchased from AOWLED.

This review reflects my firsthand experience with the AOWLED products I purchased and the support I received. Other customers may have different experiences.
